Light

We are sitting at the dock at Shelter Island Marina, just before leaving for our berth in Point Roberts Marina. Man, this thing is light.

I am using a Yamaha 9.9 four stroke, long shaft, high thrust engine to move the boat. This has been an excellent choice of power for this boat. In this condition, the Yamaha would push the boat at 7 knots at full throttle. At half throttle we get about 5.5 knots. That is on a flat calm day. Pushing into the wind, we get a bit less speed. The high thrust engine is hard to believe when you put it into reverse to slow the boat down. It actually sucks the transom down and really puts on the brakes.

I operated a Searunner 40 with a 9.9 Johnson long shaft and it was hell to slow that thing down.
